Free visit: ECOLE DES SABLES & TOUBAB DIALAW VILLAGE

Description

“International Center for Traditional and Contemporary African Dance”

Founded in 1998 by the celebrated dancer and choreographer Germaine Acogny, considered the mother of African dance, and her husband Helmut Vogt, the School is a House for Dance in Africa.

It regularly organizes professional training courses for dancers and choreographers from Africa, its diaspora and around the world.

TOUBAB DIALAW is a fishing village that stretches along a pretty wild beach, between rocks and ochre cliffs. You’ll have the chance to watch the fishermen at work as the tide rises, and the baobab trees enthroned like sages on the heights.

You’ll walk through the village’s winding lanes to meet the warm and welcoming locals.

You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the Sobo Bade cultural center, an unusual place where poet and sculptor Gérard Chennet created his house built with unconventional materials, making the construction unique on a promontory facing the ocean.
